Short Biography

Patrick was born in Oristano, Sardinia, Italy. He started playing guitar when he was 11, and was playing professionally by the age of 15. He plays electric, acoustic and classical guitars. Patrick took private classical guitar & music theory lessons for 5 years as a teenager. He then studied experimental composition and electronic music at the Conservatory of Cagliari. He also studied electric guitar at Percento Musica in Rome, where he perfected his skills during several master classes with amazing teachers as Frank Gambale.

Patrick′s main influences include Steve Vai, Slash, The Edge, SRV, Hendrix, David Gilmour, Dimebag, Jason Becker, Gary Moore, Satriani and Malmsteen. Since moving to Los Angeles, his guitar gurus is Pete Castle.

As an endorser and clinician for many companies, Patrick has done hundreds of clinics all over the world. In 2007, he received the award as "Randall and Washburn European Artist of the Year" from the USMusic Corporation at the NAMM Show in Los Angeles.  He was also Steve Vai′s translator and assistant during his master class in Italy. In January 2017 Patrick presented his Signature models with Shawn Guitars at NAMM Show. 

He currently plays with his band Patrick Abbate Project, Willie Basse′s "Black Sheep" and the Iron Maiden Tribute Somewhere Thru Time. He played with "Kee Marcello and Patrick Abbate Band", Megan McCauley, Irene Nelson, Marco Baz Bazzoni (Gianni Cyano), Mino Mereu, Giangi Cappai (Alma Matris), Roshon Fegan, Stefano Giorgini and many more. 

Patrick plays often as a solo artist, doing concerts, master classes and clinics around Europe, USA, Canada and South America.  He currently lives in Los Angeles and in January 2015 he published his solo record, “Electric Dreams”. The album has reach #53 in the iTunes New Entries Rock in the first week of publishing. It has 13 tracks, 11 of which are instrumental. It is produced by David Z Rivkin (Prince), and mastered by Giangi Cappai.
