Patrick was born in Oristano, Sardinia, Italy. He started playing guitar when he was 11, and was playing professionally by the age of 15. He plays electric, acoustic and classical guitars. Patrick took private classical guitar & music theory lessons for 5 years as a teenager. He then studied experimental composition and electronic music at the Conservatory of Cagliari. He also studied electric guitar at Percento Musica in Rome, where he perfected his skills during several master classes with amazing teachers as Frank Gambale and Umberto Fiorentino.
Patrick′s main influences include Steve Vai, Slash, The Edge, SRV, Hendrix, David Gilmour, Dimebag, Jason Becker, Gary Moore, Satriani and Malmsteen. His guitar guru is Pete Castle.
Patrick is endorser and clinician for many companies, and has done hundreds of clinics all over the world. In 2007, he received the award as "Randall and Washburn European Artist of the Year" from the USMusic Corporation at the NAMM Show in Los Angeles. He currently has 4 signature guitar models produced by Shawn Guitars.
He is the actual guitarist of "Patrick Abbate Project", Willie Basse′s "Black Sheep" and the Iron Maiden tribute "Maiden USA/Somewhere Thru Time", in past he also played with "Kee Marcello and Patrick Abbate Band", Megan McCauley, Irene Nelson, Marco Baz Bazzoni (Gianni Cyano), Mino Mereu, Giangi Cappai (Alma Matris), Roshon Fegan and many more. He was also Steve Vai′s translator and assistant during his master class in Italy.
Patrick plays often as a solo artist, doing concerts, master classes and clinics around Europe, USA, Canada and South America. He currently lives in Los Angeles and in 2015 he published his solo album “Electric Dreams”. It is co-produced with David Z Rivkin (Prince). The album has 13 tracks, 11 instrumental and 2 sang and it was made with the collaboration of special guests as: Philip Bynoe, Deon Estus, Scott Earl, Matthew Denis on bass. Troy Patrick Farrell, Mike Hansen and Jeff Muzerolle on drums. Gianluca Tagliavinion keyboards. Mino Mereu and Andrew Freeman on vocals.
